The little black dress (LBD) has been a fashion classic since Coco Chanel popularized it. Prior to 1920s black was often wear during period of mourning. In 1926 Coco Chanel published in American Vogue a picture of a knee long, plain black dress. Vogue called it "Chanel's Ford," the little black dress was simple and accessible for women of all social classes. Since than most women have at least one little black dress in their wardrobe.
